Sourav Ganguly issues a clarion call to the fans of Atletico de Kolkata, urging them to support a team better in model than the previous two iterations...
Co-owners and patrons-in-chief of football clubs play a major role, not just in wooing talented staff to lead their hopes and dreams on the field of play, but also in ensuring the fans are centre of the attention when it comes to the support for the team.
It is no surprise then, that Sourav Ganguly has already initiated the process of charming Atletico de Kolkata's passionate supporters and urging them to passionately cheer the team he co-owns, as the third season of the Indian Super League's (ISL) fast approaches. The video, a bespoke one, has been uploaded onto the West Bengal capital ISL team's Facebook page.
"Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) fans, it has been two great years for us. Winners in the first season and semi-finalists in the second," began Ganguly in his address, a legendary cricketer, well renowned for his exploits with the Indian national team on the pitch.
Ganguly believes his teams have upped their performances over the course of the two editions of the tournament.
"I thought we played exceptionally well in the second one - even better than the first. Now, it's time for season three," he commented.
"The team is even better (than first two seasons) and hopefully we will play some football," he further added.
Atletico de Kolkata will be playing at the refurbished Rabindra Sarobar stadium, owing to the renovations on at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata ahead of the famous venue hosting the Under-17 World Cup matches, in 2017.
"Come and watch the team at the Rabindra Sarobar stadium. A new venue and new home and we won't disappoint you," Ganguly concluded.
