"Let that happen first, we will see then. I am only thinking about my club. I am ATK" -- Sourav Ganguly

Rumours are rife about the city-based football powerhouses being inducted into ISL from next year. Reportedly, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and its commercial and marketing partners Football Sports Development (FSDL) have mooted a plan to include them in ISL.

Such a move could lessen the support base of ATK significantly as fans of the two established football clubs constitute the majority of its mass connect.

"Let that happen first, we will see then. I am only thinking about my club. I am ATK," -- Indian Super League (ISL) franchise Atletico de Kolkata's co-owner Sourav Ganguly said.

"In the last semi-final we had around 75,000 people. See when Brazil play Argentina the stadium is automatically full. I am sure when Mohun Bagan take on ATK or East Bengal play us, there will be a lot of crowd in the stands."

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly shown an interest in sponsoring Mohun Bagan.

Quizzed about the rumours, Ganguly said: "It will be good for the club. Anything that he (Shah Rukh) gets associated with is always the best."

The former India cricket captain remained coy when asked about environmentalists questioning ATK's decision to host ISL matches at the Rabindra Sarobar at night.

Environmentalists say hosting matches at night under floodlights at the stadium can cause ecological hazards.

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed at the eastern zone bench of the National Green Tribunal by environmental activist Subhas Datta saying it was "a better option to hold the football matches during day hours".

He has pleaded with the bench the games should not be organised at night without proper environmental monitoring.
Sourav Ganguly on Thursday remained unfazed by speculation about the team's support base should traditional city giants East Bengal and Mohun Bagan become part of ISL.

Delhi Dynamos continue impressive run, edge Swedish Club Skene IF 2-1 in pre-ISL friendly

Delhi Dynamos register a comeback victory.

Indian Super League side Delhi Dynamos Football Club registered its first win by coming from behind to beat Swedish Club Skene IF 2-1 at the Vavarevallan in Skene (Sweden).

Delhi Dynamos, playing their second friendly match in Sweden as part of their pre-season training, were trailing for the majority of the match. But the away side produced yet another resilient performance, thanks to two second half goals from midfielders Kean Lewis and Marcelo Leite to register their maiden win of the pre-season, much to the liking of their head coach Gianluca Zambrotta.

The match also saw the return of their Ghanaian superstar Richard Gadze and debut of Senegalese Baye Ibrahima Niasse. Samir Nabi came close to scoring in the seventh minute of the match with a vicious strike, which was blocked by an onrushing defender. They were at it again, when Kean Lewis came forth to scoring in the 13 minute with a brilliant solo effort.

Kean picked up the ball in midfield and dribbled past couple of defenders to fire in a powerful shot, but it was acrobatically saved by the goalkeeper to avert an initial setback for the hosts.

However, in the 35th minute of the match, Skene broke the deadlock much against the run of play with a superb strike from their striker Oscar. As had been the story for Zambrotta's squad during the entire pre-season, they fell behind once again and went into the break chasing the game.

The away side started off strongly after the change of ends and kept on pressing hard for the equalizer and but as luck would it have it, their multiple attempt at finding the back of the net failed.

Their hard work eventually paid off, and they finally scored the equaliser through their talisman Kean.

With time running out, both the teams were looking for the winning goal, but it was the visitors whose perseverance saw them go ahead in the match for the first time with their new foreign signing Marcelo Leite, curling in a wonderful free kick to beat the opposition goalkeeper all ends up.

Real Madrid 5-2 Osasuna: Cristiano Ronaldo scores on return as hosts rack up 15th consecutive La Liga win

**  Real Madrid defeated Osasuna 5-2 in La Liga clash at the Bernabeu
***   Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring after being set up by Gareth Bale
**    Danilo and Sergio Ramos effectively killed game before the interval
**    Another defender, Pepe, headed home Toni Kroos' corner in second half
**    Luka Modric got on the scoresheet before visitors pulled a goal back through Oriol Riera who then missed a penalty
**    David Garcia netted for the visitors before Tano Bonnin was sent off

Cristiano Ronaldo had a busy summer. From unleashing a new version of his underwear on the world to ‘managing’ Portugal from the sidelines as they won Euro 2016, via unveiling his own fragrance and opening his own hotel.

But after sitting out the start of his season as he recovered from the knee injury sustained against France in the final, he was finally let loose, to do what he does best. And it took just six minutes for him to open the scoring against minnows Osasuna.

A host of different scorers followed suit, with Danilo, Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Luka Modric all finding the net, while Oriol Riera pulled one back for Osasuna and Kiko Casilla saved a Roberto Torres penalty, before David Garcia grabbed another and Cayetano Bonnin was sent off.
For large periods Real Madrid were unstoppable as they battered the visitors from northern Spain black and blue, racking up their 15th consecutive win in LaLiga, equalling Miguel Munoz’s long-standing club record from 1960-61.

Zidane decided to rest Marcelo, James Rodriguez and Casemiro at the start of a run where they games come thick and fast, but it didn’t matter. This match’s path was marked from the start.

Gareth Bale zipped away from the Osasuna defence, seemingly beating the offside trap—although replays showed he strayed fractionally past the defence, missed by the linesman—and laid it back for Ronaldo to fire home. They embraced.

If there is any animosity from Ronaldo and the other players towards Bale because of his high contract demands, as reported in Catalonia, it was nowhere to be seen here.

And while Bale is providing service like this for Ronaldo, the sun will shine in Madrid’s sky. That was the biggest threat to Zinedine Zidane’s team, with baking heat at the Santiago Bernabeu leaving officials checking the temperature before kick-off. However, the mercury stayed a couple of degrees below the 36 degree limit league president Javier Tebas hinted would result in a postponement.

Madrid had a chance to make it two when Ronaldo fired in a vicious cross which took a nick off a defender and evaded Alvaro Morata, with goalkeeper Nauzet Perez scrambling the ball away, but only as far as Toni Kroos. The German was’t as composed as usual and fired it into the side-netting, when he should have hit the target or sent it back to Morata.

Bale sent a free-kick into the sky but came closer with his next effort, a low drive which stung Nauzet’s palms as he sent it behind, with Ramos nodding the resulting corner inches wide of the far post.

Osasuna were limp in attack but they didn’t lack willing, retaining plenty of the ball in the first half, while Madrid were content to sit back and try to launch cutting counters, with Ronaldo and Bale slicing through their opponents like hot knives through Pamplona butter.

A crucial moment arrived shortly before half-time. Unai Garcia crashed a header off of Kiko Casilla’s crossbar in Real Madrid’s box, before Los Blancos broke away with devastating effect, Danilo smashing home a deflected strike after Nauzet rushed out to punch the ball to the edge of the box.

Bale nearly grabbed Madrid’s third immediately afterwards but the goalkeeper was able to beat him to the ball and clear, as Madrid started to run riot. Ramos nodded home Kroos’ corner with the last kick of the first half to send his team in with an unassailable lead.

Ramos’ header means he has scored in each of the last 13 La Liga seasons, equalling the all-time record of former Athletic Bilbao star Aitor Larrazabal.

Mateo Kovacic nearly made it four at the start of the second period but was denied by Nauzet, with the goalkeeper’s defence all at sea, the ball bouncing around as if the penalty area were a pinball machine.

Madrid were playing with a swagger, Modric making time stand still as he sharply turned away from two players, leaving them dumfounded.

Osasuna players were also left dumfounded by some awful goalkeeping from Nauzet, failing to prevent Pepe’s header from finding the net even though it was directed straight at the goalkeeper.

Modric whipped home an excellent fifth from outside the area, before substitute Oriol Riera pulled one back with a firm header from Miguel Anguel de las Cuevas’ cross.

Barcelona 1-2 Alaves -- Newly promoted side stun Luis Enrique's La Liga champions at Nou Camp

***   Deyverson handed visitors lead, converting Kiko Femenia's cross after a rare foray into Barcelona territory
**  Jeremy Mathieu equalised for Barcelona by heading a Neymar corner to restore parity
**  Newly promoted side scored winner through an Ibai Gomez shot into far corner which sealed win

Barcelona played their expensive reserves against newly promoted Alaves and were dealt an embarrassing home defeat in the biggest shock of the season so far.

Last season’s second division champions beat the title holders 2-1 with Neymar’s newly-dyed bleached blond hair the brightest thing about Luis Enrique’s side.

He had left Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi, Jordi Alba and Andrés Iniesta on the bench and Gerard Pique and Sergio Roberto in the stands.

Barcelona have invested in strength in depth this summer and surely this was the time to make use of it. But in a shocking first 45 minutes of misplaced passes, misunderstandings and wayward finishing Alaves were able to get their noses in front by taking one of only two chances that came their way.

Barcelona came back in the second half but conceded again and now trail Real Madrid by three points after just three games played.

There was big applause from the Nou Camp for debutant keeper Jasper Cillenssen as he got down well to make his first save for the club from Ibai Gomez’ long shot and like all Barça keepers he was largely a spectator early on, but what he was watching was not particularly impressive.

Barcelona had another debutant in attack but Paco Alcacer – signed from Valencia for 30m in the summer struggled to get on the ball. Barça’s front three played as individuals and not together as Messi, Suarez and Neymar do so effectively.

Neymar was back after his 100-day working holiday in Brazil winning Olympic gold. He had not come back to the same team he left behind.

Arda Turan did shoot just over with an angled shot and right back Aleix Vidal had a powerful drive deflected for a corner. But Barça reached the half-hour still having not established a lead or shown any of their usual home form. When Sergi Busquets got his head to a Neymar free-kick the ball ended up as close to the corner flag as to the goal and that summed the team’s performance up.

Another Neymar corner brought danger. This time he rolled it to Vidal whose powerful shot was deflected for a corner. From a third free-kick Neymar went for goal himself but bent the ball horriby wide.

Alaves opening goal came from Deyverson Silva on 38 minutes. The visitor’s had a throw-in higher up the pitch than they had been for most of the first half and they caught Barça napping.

Kiko Femenino spent two underwhelming years in Barça’s B-team from 2011 to 2013. But he left Denis Suarez flailing with some quick feet. And when he crossed for Deyverson the Brazilian got to the centre before Mascherano and steered his first time shot past Cillenssen.

Rakitic shot just wide from inside the area with a minute left of the first half. A cushioned header from Alacer to Turan had created the chance – it was the first meaningful contribution for him in a poor first half for one and all.

A different team emerged for the second half and within a minute Barcelona were on level terms.

Neymar whipped in a corner from the right and Jeremy Mathieu rose to head the equalizer past Fernando Pachecho.

It should have been two via the same route moments later but this time from another Neymar corner Mathieu this time hammered the ball wide.

Alaves were not to be brushed aside so easily though. Edgar Mendez swept in a free-kick from close range but – with Messi stood alongside him, now warming up – the linesman raised his flag to rule the goal out.

Replays showed he had called it right but it had been the tightest of decisions and Alaves were not to be denied their second goal.

Gomez got it showing more determination than Vidal and Mascherano, the former capping a poor performance with some weak defending, and the latter struggling, having played two games for Argentina during the international break.

It was a mystery why he had played the game while others with less air-miles in their legs had not played.

The goal came after Iniesta’s introduction. Messi was already on and now Luis Suarez was stripped and ready to make his entrance.

This had not been the plan at all. This was supposed to be the first-teamers taking a break while the reserves staked their claim and secured the three points.

But Alaves held on comfortably. Barcelona were so desperate for the late equalizer they tried to play on around a pitch invader when he ran on in injury time and made a beeline for Sergi Busquets.

Messi got the last chance of the game but shot just wide. It would have been harsh on the underdogs had it crept in at the back post. Alaves deserved their win.

Cristiano Ronaldo blasts Xavi over Lionel Messi dig -- 'The most searched for player on the internet is me, I've won three Ballon d'Ors and he hasn't won any'

**  Xavi said Cristiano Ronaldo was unfortunate to be living in the same era as his former Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi
**   His comments prompted a stunning reaction from Real Madrid's Ronaldo
**    Ronaldo has mocked Xavi and his failure to win the Ballon d'Or
 **

Cristiano Ronaldo has lashed out at Xavi Hernandez after the former Barcelona player suggested the Real Madrid man was unlucky to be living in the same era as Lionel Messi.

Xavi hailed the Portuguese forward as an elite player, but pointed out Ronaldo was unlucky to be around at the same time as the Argentina star.

However, Ronaldo went on a tirade after helping his team beat Osasuna 5-2 on his return from injury.

'The most searched for player on the Internet is me,' bragged Ronaldo. 'Those that want to appear on front covers [of newspapers] or promote things speak about me.

'What does it matter to me what Xavi says? He plays where? In Qatar or [somewhere], I don't know. He's won everything but he's never won a Ballon d'Or. I have three.'

Messi has won five Ballon d'Ors and is widely considered the best player of all-time, but Ronaldo believes he is worthy of that accolade.

Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser earlier in the week, Xavi had said: 'Only a fool could have played football and not recognise Cristiano is an elite footballer. But he just has had bad luck to be around at the same time as Leo.'

He added: 'If I were the president of Real Madrid, I would give myself a 10-year contract. Right now I'm not thinking about anything else in my career, all I want is to retire at Real. This is the biggest club in the world and it should have the best players.'

A host of different Real players joined Ronaldo in netting against Osasuna, with Danilo, Sergio Ramos, Pepe and Luka Modric all on the scoresheet.

Oriol Riera pulled one back for Osasuna and Kiko Casilla saved a Roberto Torres penalty, before David Garcia grabbed another and Cayetano Bonnin was sent off.

For large periods Real Madrid were unstoppable as they battered the visitors from northern Spain, racking up their 15th consecutive win in La Liga.
